Super model Tora Khasgir has done her own stunts in the film Victoria No. 203, in which she plays a burglar in a
'catwoman' like get up. Says Anant Mahadevan, the director of the film, "It was amazing co-incidence that we found Tora
for the role. Tora happens to be a good friend of Kamal Sadanah. For this film we wanted a woman who would do stunts
herself. Tora apparently, is very well trained in doing action scenes, thanks to the training she got from her husband who
is a fight choreographer based in Australia.” Talking about one of the action sequences, Mahadevan says that "There
was rope tied just to Tora's waist and she was standing on a very high tower. It was just amazing the way she did those
stunts.”
In the original film, the burglar is a male character then why a female doing that sequence in the remake? Informs
Mahadevan, "Though we are remaking the film, we wanted to give it a new feel. Having a female thief was an interesting
idea because in India, we don't see female actors doing much of action sequences. Besides, the look of Tora's character
adds to the glamour element as well.” Apart from doing stunts, not many might know this but Tora is also a good actress.
Earlier, she was seen in Rajiv Rai's Asambhav.
Victoria No.203 stars Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergill and Amrita Arora. The film will be completed by April
next year and will release in the month of June 2007.
Ask Ananth about the other projects that he is directing and he is quick to reply, "Anamika starring Koena Mitra is
50% complete and Anu Malik has given amazing music for the film. Agar, the second episode in the Aksar
trilogy will follow. It stars Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade. Then there is also a film with Gordhan Tanwani”. Well
Ananth surely has his hands full for another year.
