Rumors were adrift that director Manish Gupta's of Darna Zaroori Hai fame Saab Chai Paani was a sequel to Govind Nihlani's acclaimed Ardh Satya starring Om Puri. Om Puri stars in Saab Chai Paani as well and some portion of the media went on about the connection of Om Puri from that film to this one as well thereby getting the sequel link.

We spoke to Manish who gave us the facts. "Saab Chai Paani is not a sequel to the film, nor is it a remake not is it remotely connected to Ardh Satya.", said an irritated Gupta. "It was the leading guy Sonu Sood who said that his role was kind of like what Om Puri played in Ardh Satya and the media jumped to their own conclusions. The story is original and if you still don't believe me then sit with me while the edit of the film is going on."

Well, now that we got that cleared, here is some more dope on Manish Gupta. He is the writer of a number of Ram Gopal Varma productions including Darna Zaroori Hai, Sarkar, James and D. He also directed one story of Darna Zaroori Hai and is also working on the post-production of another film titled Hostel starring Vatsal Seth and Tulip Joshi in the lead.
