Risk

By Joginder Tuteja

Arriving barely a few days before the release of the film, music album of ''Risk'' finally finds a place for itself in the music stands. An action film about a cop v/s underworld face off with Vinod Khanna and Randeep Hooda in the lead, ''Risk'' by Vishram Sawant is looked forward more for its gripping action and some high voltage drama than its music. Nevertheless, since its ''Hitchki'' is already quite popular, one plays on the album to see if rest of the songs have anything to offer at least when it comes to situational appeal.

Akbar Sami, who has been know for his DJ mix tracks over the years, composes an original number ''Hitchki'' which is as naughty and sensual as it can get. An immensely catchy number with ''Babuji'' girl Sonu Kakkar lending her vocals, ''Hitchki'' is a winner number for the masses, especially out there in Maharashtra.

With an authentic ''desi'' flavor to it aided by an enjoyable choreography and eye candy in the form of Tanushree Dutta, ''Hitchki'' is an Amitabh written track that solves the purpose of providing relief in this intense film that has ample gun shots and some high voltage drama to fill up the frames. Since Akbar Sami is at the helm, it is almost impossible to even think that he would have resisted the temptation of creating a remix version of his own song? No wonder, a pepped up remix version with some western effects thrown in arrives after a while.

A very Ram Gopal Verma kind of song, ''Lakhon Karodo Mein Koyi Leta Hai Risk'' is the next song to follow. A background track composed by Bapi Tutul, it is fast paced with a thumping effect and should sound decent in the film''s narrative. Krishan goes full throated while rendering this Sandeep Nath written number about facing the challenge and taking on the mighty by sheer will power.

Anyways, don''t expect yourself to be humming this song while walking out of the theatres. This is because, life is of such numbers begin and end during the film''s screening and that''s about it. Period! Next comes the ''Trance'' version of the song as ''Le Le Risk'' and though some technical wizardry is added to create a fusion impact, there is nothing at all for a music lover to cherish.

Third composition by Bapi-Tutul in the album is ''Risk Theme '' which is a short 2 minutes composition and has a haunting appeal to it. A better hear when compared to the two tracks preceding it, it creates a good momentum even when there are only a few instruments used and should work well during the dark situations in the movie.

As is the mood of major part of the album, ''Kali Sadke'' too has a dark theme and is strictly for the situation. Kunal Ganjawala goes husky while rendering this Sandesh Shandilya composed track. Sudhir''s lyrics convey the viewpoint of the film''s lead protagonist who is adamant about bringing an end to all the evil games around him.

Though it is fast paced with heavy duty orchestra, it is not a kind of number that would make you hit the repeat button on your remote.

Though there are films that require a situational soundtrack, there is still something to enjoy or look forward in the film but in case of most of the soundtrack of ''Risk'', there is absolutely no entertainment quotient involved. In the end, except for ''Hitchki'' there is not a single track that stays with you after the album is through.
