When an item girl graces the cover of an album that goes by the name of Khallas, it doesn''t require one to imagine much about what would eventually be in the offering. Add to it a punch line ''The Beginning Of End'' and there is a certain sadistic pleasure that one gets while picking up this album for a hearing.

As many as three composers and three lyricists are roped in to create music for Khallas, a film which is directed by S. Kumar and stars Om Puri and to an extent item girl Sambhavna Seth as the only recognizable faces.

Sandeep Chowta''s original composition ''Khallas'' in Company is handed over its downgraded avtar by composer Iqbal Darbar and lyricist A.M. Turtaz or is it Turtaj as the inlay card says for two other tracks says?. Nevertheless, there is not much in a name here anyways as this item song ''Khallas'' choreographed on Sambhavna Seth is crooned in such an amateurish manner by Tarannum Mallik that it may make you turn away from music for some hours at the least. Ok, there is good news though - the music company has spared us with a remix version here.

Have you ever got a chance to see the Ootywood movies of Mithun Chakravorty, especially during the 90s? If so, then you would be remembering the assembly line ''jhatka-matka'' songs with pedestrian tunes, uninspired writing and lifeless singing that used to be the order of the day. There is an all around nostalgia when ''Sabse Haseen'' comes next, since this Shabbir Ahmed written and Suresh Raheja composed track has all those ingredients!

One is surprised though to read Sunidhi Chauhan''s name on the credit since a it is hard to believe that she actually agreed to croon a track with lyrics like ''Botal Bhar Lo Mujhme Nasha Hai, Jisko Bhi Dekho Wo Peeche Pada Hai'' and b the voice too doesn''t quite seem hers!

Suresh Raheja indeed would be a happy man as he manages to rope in Sunidhi for yet another track in quick succession, ''Rab Di Kasam'' along with Udit Narayan. A Ravi Chopra written track, it belongs to the 80s with a kind of tune that could possibly be a reject from films like ''Laal Dupatta Malmal Ka'' or ''Ayee Milan Ki Raat''.

Tarannum Mallik and A.M. Turtaz return to dominate the rest of the album as they team up for ''Gohar Laga Ya Laal'' and ''Hothon Ko Tere'' composed by Illyas. An item track with lyrics leaving nothing to imagination and following a linear track rather than even coming close to bringing on double entendre, ''Gohar Lega Ya Laal'' is straight out of a dance bar and only finds its place back into one.

Later arrives the song of seduction ''Hothon Ko Tere'' which just gets stuck on the ''choom-choom'' mood and refuses to buzz away from the spot for almost two minutes. Well, if this is what seduction is all about then one may as well try to find another way out to get into the mood!

Music of Khallas in one word is just ''khallas'' since it is an album that would be heard only by those who feature in it or critics like us who have to suffer it for business purposes.
