Coming back to his next release lined up. Bheja Fry doesn''t sound like your regular salted popcorn with Coke entertainer. Or does it? "In Bheja Fry I have a small but important part. It''s really interesting. I play Vinay Pathak''s friend in the film who comes and bails him out of a situation. The character is an eccentric income tax officer with a passion for cricket.”

Vinay Pathak... hmmm… with whom he form the Indian Laurel and Hardy jodi. "Well we offer discounts on a package deal laughs. I think directors are casting us as per their needs. I know a lot of people see us as a team but there are a lot of directors out there who see us as individual actors as well. And we are more than happy to be working together constantly.”

Ranvir sounds excited about his next film Mithiya where he plays the male lead. "Mithiya is a very special film primarily because it is Rajat Kapoor''s film. And secondly I play the lead role in the film, and it''s a part which any actor would give their left arm for. I play a struggling actor who gets the role but in real life. And yes I would say that the film is centered around me.”

Interestingly Ranvir is caught between the wrath of two writers. In writer-director Anurag Kashyap''s film No Smoking, Ranvir''s screen name is Abbas Tyrewala. Abbas Tyrewala, the name sounds familiar. Well, Abbas is the writer of movies like Maqbool, Main Hoon Na and Munnabhai M.B.B.S. So why is Ranvir named after Abbas in the film? That''s because Anurag Kashyap had earlier offered Ranvir''s role to him but he declined the offer. So as his means of getting back to Abbas, Kashyap named him Ranvir''s character as Abbas Tyrewala. Ranvir on his part explains, "Well other than the name I doubt that any other characteristic of my character is similar to that of Abbas Tyrewala. I think it''s just a friendly gesture. It''s a friendly thing between Anurag and Abbas and I happen to be in the middle of this thing.”

And more of Ranvir this year. "You will be seeing loads of me. There''s Anjani, Sirf, Buddha Mar Gaya apart from the ones I already mentioned.”
