While the Priyankas and the Vidyas and the Ayeshas of Salaam-e-Ishq are all over the town for the promotion of this Nikhil Advani''s biggie that is hitting the screens today, there is another pretty face that is sure to make a mark along with other established artists. We are talking about Anjana Sukhani, the young actress with girl-next-door looks who has been slowly but steadily making her presence felt in the BIG arena that goes by the name of Bollywood. Joginder Tuteja gets into an exclusive conversation with the girl who has perhaps the most beautiful smile amongst the current breed of young actresses.
I have jumped at least to the 4th level, if not the 10th
From small films like Hum Dum, Sun Zarra and Jaana - Let's Fall In Love to a biggie like Salaam-E-Ishq. How does it feel?
Of course I am elated since for me it's a major transition. From the 1st level, I believe I have jumped at least to the 4th level, if not the 10th. It is so difficult for newcomers to make a mark, especially when it comes to someone like me with no film background.
I was treated like a princess on the sets
So was the difficulty reduced when you stepped on the sets of Salaam-e-Ishq?
Oh, it was such a great setting. I was treated like a princess. There have been so many beautiful moments that I shared while filming for SEI. Never once was I made to feel like someone who had just stepped into the industry. Whether it was director Nikhil Advani or his Assistant Directors or any other actors on the sets, no one made me feel uncomfortable at all.
Was it easy to be a part of the film?
Well, far from it! I was given a little synopsis of the film and asked to audition for three scenes. Then there were some dance sequences I had to be part of so I had to join dancing classes to enhance my skills. Then there were all these photo shoots to get me a look that would justify my character as someone who was half the age of Anil Kapoor. In total, there was about a month that went into all these activities before I got a final 'yes'!
Generally in love triangles involving a married couple, there is a lot of 'rona-dhona' involved. Is it the same in your story too?
Arrey nahi, not at all! There are no heavy duty emotions or 'bhashan-baazi' involved. No one out there says that 'tum apni patni chor do nahi to main apne aap ko kuch kar doongi'! The track has some real light hearted moments along with a fantasy song which has turned out to be so beautiful.
Anil sings Babuji Dheere Chalna with me
And that is…..?
The rearranged version of yesteryear's classic 'Babuji Dheere Chalna'. This is a number which Anil Kapoor dreams of while thinking about me laughs.
So which is your favorite track keeping your own story aside?
Thinks Hmmmmm….
I like Priyanka's track as she plays someone from a film background and I can relate to it
Please don't be diplomatic.
No, I am not. I am just thinking. Hmm, well if I have to choose my favorite track, it would be that of Salman and Priyanka. Since Priyanka plays someone from a film background, it is easier for me to relate to her. In the film she plays an item girl with all the 'adas' and the 'nakhras' that come along. How she deals with the media, meets this guy who shows her a different perspective of life altogether is what makes her story extra special.
Carry on…
I don't quite relate to Ayesha's track since she looks for love in a guy who is just not committed. Personally, it would be a little too much for me to be with such a man. John and Vidya are a part of a tragic track and since I like lighthearted moments, I continue to be pro Salman-Priyanka track. In fact, though I don't know much about Sohail-Isha track, I have heard that theirs is the most whacky of all since they play a young couple who are still trying to make out days after marriage but to no avail! Now I am sure that would indeed be funny!
