We are in the month of August and so far have witnessed a lot of good musical scores in the first half of the year ranging from
Rang De Basanti, Gangster, Fanaa, etc. IndiaFM presents to you a list of 5 film albums that we believe might rock
the charts in the coming months of 2006.
Woh Lamhe
Music Director: Pritam
Music Label: T-Series
The Bhatt camp and good music have always been synonymous with each other. With huge musical hits like Kalyug and
Gangster recently, they are just on a row. Woh Lamhe whose first promo is just on air looks to head straight to the
top.
Music Director Pritam who recently scored the hit Gangster too, seems to be elated "I have composed two numbers in the
film - Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai that is currently on air in the trailer and another one is Chale Apne Ghar. There are 3
other songs in the album that are done by mixed artists. There is a Pakistani number too.”
With Bhatts, Pritam a Pakistani number and Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai already sinking in your senses, Woh Lamhe
should be one musical hit.
Don - The Chase Begins Again
Music Director: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Music Label: T-Series
With Kajra Re in their kitty and the music of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna opening to rave reviews, S-E-L compose for
the 21st century version of Don. Their association with Farhan Akthar has been rock solid. Be it their hip Dil Chata
Hai that brought around a new sound or Lakshya that despite being a patriotic film was still trendy in terms of music, the
SEL-Farhan Akhtar combination has always understood music.
Ehsaan of S-E-L fame says, "It's a funny way to describe the album, but Don is retro-modern! Like all know, we have
retained two songs, i.e. Ye Mera Dil and Khaike Paan Banaraswalla, from the original. I think the music of the film
is cutting edge. It's difficult for me to choose favorites. The entire album is special to me. Whenever we've collaborated with
Farhan Akhtar, the end result has been great. So I'm looking forward to the release of the album.”
Apart from the two originals Don tracks, other song that stands out is Aaj Ki Raat picturized on Priyanka Chopra and Isha
Koppikar. There are some remixed tracks by DJ Randolf and Medival Punditz. Also look forward to the promotional music video of
the title track to be shot on Shahrukh Khan.
Jaan-E-Mann
Music Director: Anu Malik
Music Label: T-Series
The Anu Malik-Sajid Nadiadwala collaboration has always spelt success at musical stores - be it Judwaa or Har Dil Jo
Pyar Karega. And as Anu Malik himself says Jaan-E-Mann is one of his best compositions in recent times along with Umrao
Jaan.
With Salman-Preity-Akshay in the film and Farah Khan's husband Shirish Kunder making his directorial debut, the musical scene
just looks all the more positive.
Dhoom 2
Music Director: Pritam
Music Label: Yash Raj Music
Pritam strikes again and this time with the sequel to the album that brought him into the limelight. After a few albums with his
partner Jeet, he went solo and Dhoom was one of his first hit album that brought into the reckoning. Expectations are high
and so is the pressure on Pritam
As he says, "Dhoom 2 is bigger than Dhoom but I can't reveal anything about it. I am under a secrecy clause. A lot
of times, I have been misquoted on Dhoom2 and I don't want that again. Yash Raj Films is very secretive about their
projects. With the cast of Aishwarya, Hrithik, Abhishek, Bipasha, Uday and Rimi, it's definitely going to be bigger than
Dhoom. The expectations are so high that it's scary. The pressure is too much on me. Working without pressure is definitely
easier. Pressure leads to unnecessary scrutiny of the music.
I believe that music is something natural. People should hear it without pre-conceived notions. But there is one thing that I am sure
about. And that is that as soon as the album hits the stands, it will be ripped apart. That is what happens with every highly
anticipated album. I am doing my best and also what suits the film. But I think if Dhoom and Dhoom2 would have
released at the same time, there would be no baggage of a hit on me and Dhoom2 would have been better.”
Salaam-e-Ishq
Music Director: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Music Label: T-Series
Another magnum opus to hit the screens this year with stars ranging from Anil Kapoor to Salman Khan to John Abraham,
Salaam-E-Ishq comes from the director who gave us Kal Ho Na Ho. S-E-L and director Nikhil Advani come
together once again hopefully to give us something really rocking.
Ehsaan says, "Salaam-E-Ishq is a commercial album and I'm sure it will bring a smile to people's faces!”
