When the cast and crew of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya - The Royal Guard arrived at Imax Adlabs for an exclusive screening of the film, they got more than just a red-carpet salutation.
February 15 saw the humongous dome of Imax Adlabs, Wadala, draped in 6500 meters of silken red cloth with a huge symbol of the sun. The entire multiplex was made to look like a Rajasthani fort. The entrance was adorned with tall pillars, tombs, and larger-than-life models of elephants and camels. A group of local artists, dressed in traditional dehati attires, was also summoned to add to the Rajasthani appeal.
Art director Nitin Desai had been given the responsibility to recreate the entire ambience of the multiplex, and modify it in keeping with the Rajasthani culture. Desai did the job proficiently, as was evident by the traditional aura created at Imax Adlabs that night!
Eklavya - The Royal Guard, is a film set against the backdrop of modern day Rajasthan. It shows Amitabh Bachchan in the lead as Eklavya, who is appointed to protect the royal bloodline. The grand premiere of the film was attended not only by the cast and crew but also Bollywood glitterati with the likes of Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Mukesh and Nita Ambani, Kumar Mangalam & Neerja Birla, Rakeysh Mehra, and Rekha amongst others.
Another interesting part was that the music of the film was released to the media before the premiere. The music was released by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and the stars of the film, who distributed the CDs to the media.
