"Both, Love Or Arrange Marriage Are Like Two Different Roads Of The Same Destination" ...

By Reshma Kelkar IndiaFM News Bureau

The marriage season has just begun with Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao's Vivah out this week. Oh yes, we are talking about Sooraj Barjatiya's forthcoming film Vivah starring Shahid and Amrita in lead roles. Going a little off-screen IndiaFM speaks to Shahid Kapoor about his views on marriage.

Shahid and Kareena Kapoor's relationship is not hidden from media and their fans. This cute couple of the industry has always been in news for their own reasons. Shahid believes in the institution of marriage and feels that both love or arrange marriage are like two different roads of the same destination. He says, "Both, love and arrange marriage depend on how your upbringing is and sometimes on your own destiny. Many a times we take different route. Sometimes we meet or come across that special person and fall in love through arranged marriage. But one thing is important that these two people, who are in this relationship, should be happy. I believe that even love marriages are arranged in heaven. No one knows when and where you will meet that person.”

When asked how much his views on marriage have changed post Vivah, he quips, "I think I have started taking marriages seriously. I am just 25 years old and at this age one doesn't really think seriously about marriage, until you come to that point where you think you do want to get married in the immediate future. I think my understanding of the word 'Vivah' marriage has increased. Soorajji says that Vivah stands for those promises that two people make to each other. I believe in purity of those promises that I have learned from this film.”

Talking about love, Shahid says, "My point of view towards love is that one should accept their partner as they are. One should not expect qualities in others and that's how I look at the things. In this film, Amrita's character has certain innocence and certain sense of commitment which comes in her part early in the film and that is one of the highlights of this film.” Shahid has high hopes for this film. "There is nothing loud in the film so as an actor I had to tone down myself in many portions and that is something new for me as an actor. The climax of this film will make you sit back and think if one really has this kind of conviction? Do you have the courage to make a promise and live up to it?”

After Vivah, Shahid has taken a break from his work to spend sometime with his loved ones he says, "I have been working continuously from three years, now I have taken a break. I am hearing scripts right now. I need to spend little time with myself to see where I went wrong, what are the things that people like about me. I have realized that the script is the back bone of a film and being little choosy about the scripts, probably early next year I'll start working, but not now.”
